What was a winter project, turned into a summer project and is now turning back into a winter project.
The more I worked on the car, the more I decided I wanted to do more. Those of you who know me well, know that I have a great attention to detail. I have allowed that attention to detail to create a lot more work for me. With all of those time consuming additions and modifications, coupled with a lack of sponsorship for the 2013 season, we haven’t made it to any races this year. I think we’ll call it an organizational and rebuilding year, and we are anxiously awaiting next season.
The new motor has been built and is awaiting installation, along with the new transmission and rear-end gear. New fiberglass fenders and a front airdam are being completed and painted and will soon be installed. The new dash and gauges have been completed, along with a facelift to the nose of the car (purely cosmetic). A new front brake system that uses larger and lighter rotors is soon to be purchased and installed. Some safety additions and modifications were made to the cockpit and we also removed some extraneous pieces in order to reduce weight. Still a lot to do, but plenty of time to do it.
Along with the afore-mentioned duties, I have also been spending some of my precious time as a director for the New England region of the SCCA. That?s right, I was elected to the board of directors and I have been serving since February. It’s a very exciting time for our club, as we will be adding two new racetracks to our region in as many years. So far, serving on the board has been very rewarding and a revealing look into the workings of
A new year is upon us and, soon, a new race season will be too! After taking a couple months off from working on and racing the car, we’re gearing up for the upcoming season. In lieu of just rebuilding the motor, I am also in search of a back-up motor. It never hurts to have spare parts in auto racing!

Also on the to-do-list for the winter:
• Replace the stock steel fenders with composite fenders
• Install a higher gear ratio ring and pinion
• Replace the old dash with a lighter and better laid out dash
Of course, we’ll also be on the usual task of obtaining sponsorship. As always, please contact me if you have any suggestions or contacts that you would like to share for our search.
Finally, I am running for the Board of Directors for the New England region of the SCCA. You can find my candidate statement on page 10 of the most current issue of Pit Talk magazine. Although I keep plenty busy with my racing duties as they stand, I feel that I can be a very valuable asset to our club and look forward to hopefully being elected. As always, I’ll keep the website updated as we approach the 2013 racing season.
